Braided Wool Rugs

In winters, it is such a pleasure to go and buy some rugs. Be it colorful rugs or the pastel types, rugs infuse a warmth and homely feel to your custom floor. Braided rugs, oriental rugs and area rugs, for example, require great maintenance so that their beauty remains untouched or unscarred by the time factor. Placing wool rugs in the living room or any room is such a fine, classy way to infuse beauty, comfort and the feel of colors in your home. With diverse styles of area rugs available, there are lots of choices for you to choose from.

Braided wool rugs can be traced back to an era where traditions were respected and the art of rug making revered as a family heirloom. Even now, there is considerable appreciation for this functional and beautiful craft that brought forth wool rugs for our use.

The types of wool that are often used in making these rugs may be of any kind of color since the focus would be to create something appealing and tasteful for the customer who may have certain preferences. That is why the highly skilled and professional braided wool rug craftsmen display great happiness and pride in showing and explaining the qualities that accompany the wool rugs that you may opt to buy. With designs that impress and colors that are rich, it is a point of great satisfaction to prospective buyers that wool threads don't get torn or caught in the daily wear and tear syndrome that often infects other types of rugs.

Another important point in favor of wool rugs is that wool repels moisture so it keeps your place warm and provides such an appealing depth of color to your floor.

If your mind urges you to experiment a little without adding expenses to your pocket, here is an idea. You could use your old wool cast offs to make some fine wool rugs. Remember, some of those old Army or Navy uniforms that came with the tag ‘100% virgin wool'? Well, if you were about to cast it off, think twice. You can use that to make fine woolen rugs for your home!

Creating a braided wool rug isn't easy at all. It takes a lot of hard work. Let's find out what this entails.

To begin with, dyeing is the first step so that wool blend yarns come out in pleasing, vibrant colors. The double braid system is used to create most of these rugs because it brings in the durability factor. So what happens is that the yarn is braided into one-inch wide strips. Then about three of these strips are braided together so that they produce different patterns. The final step is when the rugs are sewn together with a short, taut stitch for which a strong, color coordinated thread is used. Thus, these handcrafted wool rugs carry on the tradition of excellence in creativity, quality and of course, originality.
